Your B/F is a twink... go to Start>Run type in msconfig and hit enter. Click on the start up tab and uncheck all of the various programs that start when your computer boots EXCEPT your antivirus/firewall programs. (if you shut one off by mistake your security center should tell you) See if this fixes your problems.

Defragging usually doesn't fix crashes.. you may want to download and run each of the following programs

Ccleaner http://ccleaner.com
Cleancache http://buttuglysoftware.com
spybot http://www.spybot.com/

sounds like you are out of vitural memory remove any photo files that you dont need delete your cookies and temp files. any games or programs you do not use. then run scan disk and defragment. also keep in mind that messenger slows down a computer.

anyway when you boot up click on start then run type in msconfig then click on the start tab see all those items there they are all loading with windows probably one of those is what is causing your machine to crash uncheck everything that you know your not needing to have loading with windows then reboot your machine you will notice it boots faster now and hopefully will not crash now

hope i helped

if a pc just freezes, in a lot of cases it's a hardware issue, maybe your RAM memory is corrupt, or maybe there is something wrong with the processor.

My guess would be the ram. You can test it using this free (open source) program: http://www.memtest86.com/#download0
