My old PC currently has 64MB of RAM, in the form of two 32MB DIMM SDRAM cards. There are only two slots for RAM on the motherboard.

Would there be any problem if I changed the two 32MB cards for two 64MB ones, to give me the 128MB needed to run Windows XP properly?

Could I go even higher? Two 128MB cards to give 256MB RAM for example? I don't know the limit my (Purchased in 1998) motherboard has on RAM but I assume it wouldn't like any more than 256MB.

Help on this matter would be greatly appreciated, as my poor Student budget doesn't give much leeway for mistakes :)

I can't enter the BIOS as I'm using a USB keyboard (My PS2 ports don't work), so I cannot change the boot sequence to boot from CD-ROM as apparently the USB doesn't kick in until Windows starts up (so it's too late to enter the BIOS). I have an xp disk, but not a boot disk. I'm pretty useless when it comes to this kind of thing and all of this I have learnt today. I've backed everything up and I'm ready to go. Please help.

I recently upgraded my OS to XP from Windows ME and it seems to have removed my modem and I can no longer connect to the internet. Is there a way that I can re-establish it without having to go through th process again. And if I do have to go through the process again, is there a way that I can ensure that the modem will be intact?

Hello people, i was just wondering
I have 512mb of ddr2 at 533Mhz, and i was planning to upgrade it. I have 2 options, keep the 512 and add 2gb of ddr2 same speed, or dump the 512 and buy 2gb ddr2 at 800Mhz. What is the best option?

I tried formatting from the prompt. It said that it couldn't run format because the drive was in use. It prompted to force a dismount. It then said that it couldn't lock the drive and it is still in use. I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to these things. I probably overlooked something simple. Any help is appreciated.

I'm thinking about upgrading my processor from a Pentium D to a Core 2 Duo on my Sony Vaio VGN-RC210G. These are the specs of my current processor and the motherboard.

According to the information provided, which Core 2 Duo would be compatible with my computer. If further information is needed, please ask and I will reply ASAP.

As mentioned above, there is a constant beep noise when I turn on my CPU switch. There isn't any image on my monitor too. I am sure the problems lies in the CPU, not monitor. May I know how to get this issue fixed? Would I be able to retrieve the data in my PC again?
