You can do what the others have suggested, or if you see a picture on a website you want for background, right-click the image and select "set as background". Make sure the image size is at least 600X480, otherwise it will not display right. It will be out of focus or very small. Please note that some images you find on the web may be copyrighted, or the website has disabled right-click for the picture, so you may not be able to get every image you request.

Right click on the Desktop, Go to Properties,
Select the Desktop Tab.
Then you can choose from the pre-installed ones or use the Browse button to go to your Pictures folder and use one that you saved in there.
Good Luck!

Are you talking about wallpaper or a screensaver?
right-click on the desktop
cl Properties
cl Desktop tab
select your wallpaper
for a screensaver:
click the screensaver tab
choose one
make your settings
o.k.
Are you aware that these run constantly in the background and use a good deal of your memory? They can slow down your computer. After having fun with the slide show, I reset wallpaper and screen saver to blank and none.

Start>Control Panel,(or Start>Settings>Control Panel in Win98), Appearances and Themes>Change My Desktop Background>Browse,(to find a picture you might have in My Pictures that you want on desktop), then click on the picture,(image),then click on open, then either stretch, or center it for the best effect, then Apply, and Ok.
