I'm thinking about upgrading my processor from a Pentium D to a Core 2 Duo on my Sony Vaio VGN-RC210G. These are the specs of my current processor and the motherboard.

According to the information provided, which Core 2 Duo would be compatible with my computer. If further information is needed, please ask and I will reply ASAP.

Any of the Core 2 Duo's will be available since you have a socket 775 i945p motherboard.

Your motherboard BIOS is dated Dec.15, 2005. I'm not so sure if Core 2 Duo support was already available during that time because Core2 Duo was only previewed to the press in March 2006 then launched at a later date. Better confirm at Intel's site on motherboards.

If I were you I would not update the cpu because pentium d 3 ghz is pretty fast.I would wait a couple of months till the quad core cpu drops in price.It will be the same price as the core 2 duos in 4-6 months.But if you are in need to upgrade all core 2 duos should be compatible.Good luck.

i agree with armo
wait for the quad cores to drop
the performance gain will be awesome, especially if you game or do video editing alot

by the way, you already have a dual core
just making sure you realize this
