The cpu chips contain the most gold. Memory and expansion cards have some on the edge connectors.
Recovering the gold is difficult and dangerous without the proper equipment.
What you can do is collect the most valuable pieces & sell them to someone that can recover the gold. It seems that 386, 486, and first generation pentium chips have the most value.
If you have access to a bunch of cpu's, put them on ebay and you will make money.

The GOLD in your computer is on the CPU. To recover it, you bust up your CPU into little pieces. Then you smelter them in very hot container. The metals and minerals will be separated by weight. In the end, you will have less than a gram of gold. You can get more gold at the park with a metal detector. Go get one.

The gold is on your computers motherboard. Not much though, but if your care-full enough you might be able to harvest about 1/3 to 1/5 of an ounce in wire. And that is if you have one of the older motherboards. As they get better at making the boards the wire gets thinner and thinner.

You won't find much gold on pc motherboards.
You may find more on audio cards and cables etc.
- some of the motherboard components use gold plated connectors.
- audio cables, and connectors etc.
essentially, you have to melt off the solder or gold with some sort of heating device, or machine.
solder is silver colored, so most likely anything you see that is gold colored.

There is not enough gold to make it worth the process or everyone would be doing it already.

its inside the actual board and the old chips. but not just anyone can do it it needs to be sent to a refinery to do so and they charge so its best to do it when you have a lot of them so that ou see some profit.
