I loaded win98 on it and it plays games real well like slots and majjong but when i set my beer on the case the dang thang reboots . what can be done?

I have a few (13) computers in my house and i want to upgrade one of them. i am not a newbie as i build computers regularly and do lots of other computer stuff. I know that if you take a windows harddrive and put it in another computer it wont boot because the hardware isnt the same. However im upgrading my processor which requires me upgrading my mobo and im upgrading my ram and possibly adding a video card. will the same windows still run after all the hardware changes?!?!?!?

I have a Dual Core Intel E6600 processor running at 2.4Ghz, my MotherBoard is Asus P5N-E SLI , i have stock cooling.
I want to overclock my CPU so i went into the BIOS and increased the multiplier from 9 to 10 but above the muliplier the # didnt change, it stayed at 2.4Ghz, and i thought that was ok, so i saved and exited the bios...and when i load my windows and run CPU-Z it sais that my processor is still running at 2.4Ghz and the multiplier is still 9...what am i doing wrong?

I want to lower the specs of my computer to quieten it down as at the minute it sounds like a jumbo jet. Can anyone answer with some figures of what i should alter it too? and how i go about doing it once i enter BIOS

I am trying to run a game named Jumpstart music on this system,but everytime it gives error: "This program requires atleast 3MB of Virtual memory". What is that suppose to mean? My hardisks have 4 partitions and all have atleast 10GB of space. My This game use to run perfectly fine on my previous pentium3 with only 128Mb Ram and 40GB hardisk. Can anyone please help me to RESOLVE this problem. Thanks.

I have a Midi Software (Piano soft) ,which takes Keyboard as the Input.I have A Inter 945 Mother board with AC '97 sound card.
Issue :: When I Play the Keys on the Key Board ,there is a half a sec delay ,so that i donot get the Right Music when i Play.
But with My Old Computer(PII,128 mb Ram, Creative Soundcard) It Works Perfect.I haven't thrown It out 'cos of this Use...
Is There any help or thoughts.

I had a Pentium III 800 mhz and when downloading files from the internet it would download them in less than 20 minutes using dial up. Now i have a Pentium 4 with a 1.85 ghz and when i download files from the internet it takes hours to download (1-4hrs) something still using dial up. The pentium 4 was bought at my work but administration here at work took out any work related material/doc/software etc... My question is why is the pentium 4 taking longer to download vs the pentium III?

I have had a dell Comp for years and I now need to change it. I have already upgraded it with a Flat LCD screen. I want the best I can afford.
I want a fast system( I email and use mesenger a lot)
I use Ebay so I need to take and upload good Pics
I convert VCR 's To DVD and enhance them so space is important.
I do not want to use it for games.
I want to reuse my LCD Flat screen
It might be nice to have a TV card but not crucial

This questions has been posted once. By my mother, i have followed the instructions given. But once i go into safe mode, and logd on as the administrator. I am havin the same problem. (prob below)
Whats is happening is we have Windows XP. When you select any of the 4 accounts to log into , i get the message saying its loading my preferences etc.. All goes well, until you notice that same prompt box that says loading your settings, all of a sudden says logging off. So i can't even get into any of the files or desktop etc.
Any suggestions? Its very important we don't lose everything, have my moms wedding pictures etc on this pc.
Shut down the computer and restart it in safe mode. Hit the "f8" key just before you see the windows logo. Log in as administrator, there should be no password. If you can login, run a full virus scan. You can then reboot and try to access your accounts again. Or you can use explore in safe mode to find the pics and copy them to a cd.

I have a Windows XP with onboard audio and haven't had any problems until about a year ago. My sound began messing up when I played many of the games in my extensive collection. Sometimes, as in the case of Lego Star Wars 2, just entering the options menu fixes this problem. In other games, most notably Splinter Cell, the sound will mess up every five or six minutes, the only temporary cure being to leave the game and load it up again.
The problem sounds like white noise or static and I can't seem to find a cure. I updated my sound drivers but that didn't help.
Any advice would be appreciated.
