First thought is that the power supply is going
Outside of that, I would check the Coolers on the Video and sound cards. Also the CPU cooler might be an issue. If you open the tower and start the machine, see where the hum is coming from, as well as checking to see what fans are not running. This is usually a good and cheap first start. If no luck there, then I would suggest a Check by a tech

Dont bang the computer lol, its not a tv set. The humming noise is probably the fan on the cpu or the power supply fan. Be careful and open up the case and use a compressed air can to clean the dust and gunk out of the fan housing on the cpu and power supply ( make sure the computer is off and unplugged of course) You might end up having to replace the fan, if its on the cpu you will have to take it in to a computer shop to get it replaced, if its in the power supply then youll need to buy a new power supply and replace it.

I'd agree with most replies, sounds like it may be a fan. You may get away with gently blowing and brushing off the crap that's undoubtedly accumulated - good idea anyway. With the power OFF. A build-up of dirt makes things run hotter & noisier.
Failing this, try listening to your machine with the case off & try to identify where the noise is coming from - but keep your fingers out! If it is a fan, they're easy & cheap enough to replace.

Most likely one of the fans in your case is failing. The bearings in the fan get clogged with gunk and start making noise.
You can take it to any repair shop and they will replace it for fairly cheap. That is, unless it is the fan for your power supply, then you will probably need to buy a new power supply.
You could see if they will replace the fan in the power supply, but most service centers will not do that due to the high voltage that is inside the power supply. Actually, I do not recommend even opening the power supply. DANGER! HIGH VOLTAGE!!!

Sounds like your fan has gone to the pictures. Fans are speed controlled dependent on the internal temperature of the PC therefore the hotter it is the faster the fan works. If it's on the wonk then the faster it goes the more racket it will make.

open the tower. you'll then see different sets of fans. turn it back on and listen to which of the fans are making the noise. if the noise is coming from the back of the pc, it's the power supply fan.

Yup that's an easy one. You need to replace the fan inside your tower. Very simple, they usally just pop right off. Bring it to Staples and get a new one.

It is probably the one of the fans - case , power supply, or heatsink(if installed). Probably a bearing going out although I have also seen it from dust that accumulates on the blades

Sounds like you need a new fan, or just give the one that is in there a bit of a clean, that usually works
