You can store the programs there, but I doubt if you can will be able to run them from D. I've got a VAIO too and have run into the same problem. There are some games I just can't run on that computer because I don't have the disk space on the C drive. If your VAIO is like mine your D drive is massive though, so move files you want to save to it. Just some quick suggestions to make more room on your C drive:

1. You can do the quick clean-up the others have mentioned. However, I prefer to use Crap Cleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ because it deletes cookies, temp files, trash, history, and everything else at the same time.

2. Hunt down and eliminate unwanted files like all the "readme.txt" files. They aren't big files, but you probably have hundreds of them.

3. Search your list of programs for stuff you just don't use. Computers usually come bundled with lots of software you just don't use (the bundled games, quicken, etc.). Also uninstall games and programs you just don't use much (so long as you have the installer cd's should you might want it again in the future.)

The guy above me is right, some progs will only install if it's on the C: partition. For the most part, that's limited to a few programs that I know of, namely, development tools and databases. Best way to clean up space on C:\ is to double click on my computer, then point your mouse over the C:\ drive, right click and choose Properties, and select disk cleanup. This should usually free up quite a bit of space if you've never done it before.

90% full? Wow... you need to clean out your drive. I'd suggest you back up vital info onto CD / DVD so you don't lose it, clean out the crud you don't need (old chain e-mails, etc).

Maybe move over all your personal (non-program) files onto your D drive...

I hope you have an anti-virus and anti-spyware installed as well.

Keep all of your data in your C:\ drive. The D:\ drive is the CD drive, so you can't store any data in that drive. If your computer has 2 CD drives, you can get a backup CD, and use that as storage. That is considered the E:\ drive, or the bottom drive, under your CD drive. You can also get a USB Flash Drive to store your data. You can also use a floppy drive, which is the A:\ drive to store your data.

It depends on the program. SOME programs will only allow you to install them on your C: drive.
