Only if you don't have a program that needs to be running.

My computer costs about $1.50 every hour to run so i turn it off when I'm not using it.

Believe it or not that question is as old as personal computers.A lot of computer users do not believe in turning there computers off and a lot do.That is an endless debate.I believe in turning your computer on in the morning and off in the evening or night when your done using it.I worry if there is a fan failure or thermal problem I would at least have a chance of knowing it is happening. That is a personal opinion,my own theory. There is a lot of computer owners who believe it is best to leave your computer on all the time.A lot of this belief comes from business's that leave computers on all the time. Both sides have good arguments. I will list some sites in source for you to form your own opinion.

I run many servers at my job that stay on all the time. I have users at the office keep all computers on because I have automatic anti-virus updates and scans going on, as well as windows updates.
My home computer though I do turn off, but my work from home wife leaves hers on, and it's been on for 2 years straight, and it's no worse for the wear.
I have heard that televisions will last longer if left on all the time (tube tv's anyway) I wouldn't leave a plasma, lcd, or even a rear projection on.

Depends on who you ask. I say yes for 2 reasons
1. less wear and tear on your machine.
2. if you have an always on internet, dsl, cable the you are secure cause they can;t access your stuff while you sleep..

some others might go with the "turning it on and off wears more then leaving on" approach and say yeah leave it on....

basicly it don;t matter...

it's what ever works for you/.....
