Hi. in about a month i am going to be building a PC (Gaming) and am having a bit of trouble finding a board and CPUs that would suit me. I mainly have problems in knowiing if the board and CPUs are compadable. I say CPUs because i want to get a dual processor board with 2 CPUs that run at 600Mhz at the least. It also needs to have lots ov slots for say video/Graphics cards and RAM chips. I would like something like an AMD board so in future i will be able to buy better CPUs without needing to buy a new board.

So can someone point me in the right direction and even tell me where i could get them at a good price.
In total i have about 2,000 euro to spend on my whole pc. i would say with everything elso bought eg. case, hard drive ect i would have about 6-700.

So can anyone help me out?
I would be using it mainly for a bit of CAD, Macromedia studio, adobe photoshop and games like Unreal Tournament 2007.

Thanks

Ok, I scan bill stubs and stuff and record and store them on a port. HD so I don't have paper all over heck and look like a pack rat. My question to U is:
Whats the best long-term storage device? This is what I know plz supplement my knowledge!

Hard drive - can crash, wear out over a few yrs.

Floppy can't hold much, magnetically prone to data loss

CD can scratch, deteriorate and degrade over time

Flashdrive???? don't know squat. Thanx 4 your answers.

At Sams Club they have a deal on a HP Media Center PC for $1688.74. It includes a wireless keyboard, wireless optical mouse, Dual Core processor (3.2GHz with Viiv), 2 GB of PC2-4200 SDRAM, 300 GB Serial ATA hard drive, DVD SuperMulti Drive with LightScribe Technology, A DVD Rom Drive, High Def. Audio, and a whole bunch of other stuff. (Visit Samsclub.com for more info). The graphics card is a ATI RADEON X1300 Pro with up to 256MB DDR video memory. Now, I'm a gamer, and need to know how this card performs with todays latest games (Namely Doom 3 or Starship Troopers, something that requires vertex hardware and pixel shaders). Any info will be greatly apperciated.

when a processor is dual core (for example dual core 3.40 Ghz) does that mean that it can run at twice the clock speed?

Reformatted my hard drive due to Malware infection. Everything works fine but the screensaver (any one I try) just does not initialize. Any ideas? Running Win XP on a Dell 5100 desktop.

I have a Dell and the sound of my typing apparently annoys my husband. Is there such a thing as a quiet keyboard? If so, where do I get one and how much are they?

THANK YOU!

I just bought a new pc and when I try to plug-in any USB peripherals (i.e. an external hard-drive, a USB flash drive etc.) it pops up with the "found new hardware wizard" and it looks for drivers without finding any. These peripherals normally just need to be plugged-in and don't need any external driver as they are compliant with drivers included in Windows XP. Also the peripherals work fine on any other pc (without needing the "found new hardware wizard"). The USB ports seem functional as they recognise correctly the peripherals. They just look for drivers when they should be found within the OS. The PC is a Dell Dimension 9150 with Windows XP Media Center.

I have just installed more RAM but when I check on the properties, it doesn't show there is more RAM. Can someone let me know if my computer will just 'pick it up', or do I have to change settings?
Thanx

1)when you boot up and see the dos message "ntldr is missing",what does the ntldr mean, ive asked in computer shops and they dont even know.
2)after you have installed service pack 2 ,why does the "home" and "proffesinal"dissapear from the boot up screen,is there a reason for this?
anyone who can give me a answer to these surely deserves 10 points!
