I was told to move hard drive to another computer...and reading from there...any suggestions? Thanks!

If you are using the hard drive on another computer, then use it as a second hard drive and not the main one. Also, if you did not enable encryption on your hard drive, then it should not be a problem. Use it as a second hard drive because you may not be able to boot the other computer using the hard drive because it does not have the drivers of motherboard for the new system on this old hard drive.

PC rebooting should not cause a major loss, aare you sure you did not have a head crash.

Insert your bootable CD, which has a the same O.S. and go to Windows Recovery.

check for the connections, you might have a loose connections when transfering your hard disk from one PC to another.
