Everyone's definition of "quiet" will most likely be different. I'd suggest you take note of the sound of your keyboard and simply go to a store and type on some keyboards on display to find the quietess one.
There is definately some keyboards more quiet than others....

I think Dell actually makes one that's called the "QuietKey". I think you and your husband should just to go Best Buy or something and you can type on some different keyboard and he can tell you which one is least annoying. what may seem quiet to you may still bug the hell out of him and it would be a pretty big pain to have to return the keyboard.

Laptop key board are the quitest. Try to explain the salesman to help you find the soft touch rubber coated key board.
By the way, do you know there are key board skins (softpvc transparent covers) available in the market, that sometimes decreases the tip tap sound level, omited from the plastic key board. Sometimes the sound coming from the K/B is due to nails or finger tapping on it. The skin decreases the fast stroking sounds.

There is a virtual keyboard - but it will set you back around $200. It projects the keys on to any surface using a laser, then detects your finger position / movement. No moving parts so the sound is only how hard you hit your fingers on your tabletop

I think you need a less sounding soft touch one..Go for a LogiTech Key board.
Link for keyboard: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/productlist/IN/EN,crid=2200,categoryid=428
or go to http://www.logitech.com
Thanks.
