The Intel 915G is newer and better.
The 865 was abandoned and has now been rereleased so that intel has a much cheaper chipset offering for the budget wary consumer who doesn't need high performance. The onboard graphics which forms part of the 915G chipset easily beats the onboard graphics of the 865G.
