During the install I get a blue screen error message, saying check hard drives or newly install hardware. I checked everything. I get the error message right after all the basic drivers are installed (Before disclaimer screen) I have changed out the RAM, power supply, ATA serial cables and I have even installed an IDE HD instead of the Serial HD. I still get the error message.

Equipment info: Intel DG33TL motherboard with a 2.4GHz Quad-Core. 160 Sata HD from Western Digital.

one specific part of p.c,s has allways confused me and thats all the ampage and wattage that appears in the specification sheets for power supplys, for example a 350watt psu will have a chart like this
+12V +5V +3.3V +5VSB -12V -5V
15A 16A 15A 2A 0.5A 0.5A ...and a 550watt p.s.u will look ike this
+3.3V +5V +12V -5V -12V +5VSB
28A 35A 30A 0.5A 0.8A 2.5A
my question is,as the ampage on the 550watt psu is higher than the 350watt psu, well what bearing will that have on a p.c,such as supplying power to a graphics card
i ask this as its using a 350watt p.s.u at the moment and as the card requires a 400watt i think its not getting the power it should, thus affecting its performance
will the new 550watt psu improve the stability of the graphics card due to the better power supply
any ideas guys?.............cheers!

Ones a Windows ME and the other an XP. They both work good still, just taking up too much space around my desk now, especially this 19" CRT. I want them out but not to just give/throw them away cause i wouldn't mind having them get me the money i need to get some good speakers.
Would pawn shops take them? Or anywhere else.. And ya im gonna clean off my hard drives of course before i give them up, the XP hdd is brand new and i never used it so its clean anyway

I have a samsung CLP-510 colour printer. An error message reads;

" Replace/Install waste toner tank"

having contacted local office supplies, they advised the toner tank could easily be empited into a bin bag rather than buying a new one.

thus it has been totally emptied & correctly replaced - fitting in nicely. but i can't get rid of the error message - it's still telling me to empty it & hence will not let me print nor operate any of the menu buttons.

I have turned it off & on, reset it, checked the online instructions which simply suggest i do what i have done - but it still won't clear the message, & still won't print!!

Please help, i need the printer desperately
thanks so much

I just bought a new (larger) hard drive as my old one is showing signs of age. I have a lot of files that I'd like to put on the new hard drive. I also have game data on the old one.

How can I move everything from the old drive to the new one without causing problems with my applications? If I use a cloning application will it move the registry too?

Thanks!!

I have an HP Pavilion Desktop with a CD/DVD RW and a separate DVD-ROM as drives 'E' and 'F'. The O/S is WinXP SP2, updated.

Until recently, inserting a DVD into the DVD ROM drive started the Windows Media Player automatically. Sometime in the last 2-3 weeks, something has changed so that NOTHING happens when the disk is inserted. The tray does try to read the disk (green light flashes), but WMP won't start. The DVD is OK - I can start it by using options in the WMP or be bringing up one of the other DVD s/w packages (Interactive Video?), at which point everything works fine.

I have followed the Windows instructions to set the drive preferences through MyComputer and Properties, but the selections don't appear to be saved after OK is clicked. I'd prefer *NOT* to have to revert back to a system restore point, as there have been security changes to the Norton IS package, which would have to be downloaded and installed again (this problem started erarlier).

Suggestions welcomed.

Okay, so first off, I have an Acer Aspire, Model: MT500A. I have been trying to figure out (from work, where I have no access to the PC) what kind of motherboard this baby has, and I have had no luck, even calling ACER, they were unable to assist me. My question is, does anyone have this computer and or KNOW what motherboard it comes with, OR... does anyone know how easy it is to figure out what motherboard a computer is equipped with... the extent of my computer hardware knowlege consists of replacing video cards and memory by myself, everything else escapes me a bit, but how easy would it be to locate the motherboard inside the tower?

Why can my CRT monitor play 2D video at ANY frame rates (24, 25, 30 fps, etc.) and at ANY refresh rates (60, 72, 85 hz, etc.) WITHOUT tearing, but my LCD HDTV/monitor (at 60 hz) CANNOT play ANY frame rates WITHOUT tearing?

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the response time, but I'm asking just in case.

Also, why does my CRT monitor tear only at HIGHER frame rates than refresh rates (e.g. 3D graphics (gaming) but not LOWER frame rates than refresh rates (e.g. 2D video (like I discussed earlier)?

Well, I am going to buy some new parts to my pc (almost all the parts), and i need some advice.
These are the new parts I'm buying

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad 6600 2.4GHz
Motherboard: Abit IP35 PRO ATX
Graphics Card: Asus GeForce 8600GT DDR3 512MB
Case: Cooler Master Centurion 534

It looks like I have some pretty much wiring work to do, and im asking, is there anything special i shall think of when i assemble my pc?

And my friend told me that i should get this g0 revision of the processor, because it overclocks better, and run at a lower temperature. How do i see what revision i have on my processor when i have bought it?

And also i would appreciate some tips overall regarding assembling a pc.

Kind Regards, Jacob

I've got a G3 iBook. Tried booting it a few days ago, and it just hung on the startup screen. Got the CD drive open, and inserted several of the original CD's, trying to get it to start from one, to re-install the OSX, etc. No Luck.
Any thoughts? Suggestions?
Thanks

When I bought my company, we inherited a scanner; it is about 5 years old I believe, but in really good condition.

I'm just wondering if there is somewhere that I can get the drivers for it for free...it is an Astra 1220U

thanks!
