It should be done automatically, you can disable on board graphics completely by going in to the bios (F2 on start up) or disable the on board graphics using the device manager.

Just install the new video card and switch the cable to the new video port. Boot the system up and go through the driver installation sequence from the card manufacturer.
BIOS may support explicitly disabling the integrated video but installing the card will over ride it.

The BIOS will detect the presence of a AGP or PCI card but it won't disable the on-board graphics in case you are using two monitors
If your not go into the BIOS at POST and disable it.
On-board graphics use your processor

Before installing it, go find the current internal graphic chip and disable it, by doing this
1. Go to my computer and right click it, then go to properties.
2. Go to the hardware tab, and click on device manager.
3. Look for display adapters, and the current graphic chip should be listed, If not, then you don't have a graphic chip.
4. Right click it and disable it. Then shut down the pc and install your new graphic card.
