my PC wont detect my external hard drive

i restarted my pc, then turned on my external hard drive but my pc wont detect it, so i cant access the drive at all, ive tried going to device manager but its not listed....

so how do i get access to it.

I am fairly new to Mac computers so please help me out.
When I turned the computer on I saw that the bluetooth sign in the top right corner on my screen is blinking. Well, it's more like a battery looking something (like you would find on cell phones), that keeps flashing up behind the bluetooth sign, but that wouldn't make any sense since the computer is not battery powered. What does that mean?

Recently on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5000) i had errors and lots of Bad clusters and LOADS of files missing so i rebooted it and it was still the same. I then Partionied ( First Time ) I need to now the following things:

MAIN Question :
if i partition my main Drive ( which all the window files are in ) becuase of the bad sectors. And then make a new main drive (NTFS before it was fat32) and then use recorvery cds to reboot laptop wud the bad secotrs go? and wud the Drives still reaim NTFS

I am trying to partition my Hard Drive, so that I can run Windows XP and Windows Vista (Vista on the new partition). I want to gradually move to Vista without having to clear everything off my HD right away.

My HP moniter goes to what appears sleep mode I dont know how to get my moniter to turn on its just a black screen with no coursor visabelcan somebody help me resolve this issue im running windows xp and I know the moniter works since I connected it to a different PC!

I'm heading out on a 4-5 day trip across the US and I'm wondering if I purchased a Laptop with WiFi or other mode of internet access...would I or a passenger be able to be on the web while we are traveling in the car?

I'm assuming that certain "remote"areas would not allow this, but if traveling on say I-80 /I-70 from Chicago - LA what would the reception be like?

Has anyone ever tried this themselves?

when i print from microsoft word or a few other work programs, it prints like the ink is halfway going out. if i do a test page, it prints like a brand new cartridge is installed. this is on a lexmark printer

Hi,
I own a Toshiba Satellite A100-062 laptop.

I am disabled and not very good with computers, just limited experience.

My prob is, I did a recovery using disk supplied as I had a few probs an, |i got as far as the first 2 or 3 pages as i was using arrow buttons and this page I couldnt do anything, so I pressed next and i ended up on desktop.Now very time I stick disk in, instead of it wiping hard drive clean it goes straight on to desktop and everything I loaded is still on desktop no mastter how many times I try a recovery, any ideas guys?

This is one of the very thin Toshiba laptops (800 MHz P3). I tried just starting up the laptop with the Operating system in the CD, but it didn't read it. I'm not a hacker, but I know my way around a computer well enought that I should be able to do something like this without spending $ 150 for the local computer store to do it for me. I want to see if 'joe on the street' (me) can install his own operating system and open office and get a laptop running without paying Microsoft what amounts to 3 car payments.

presently I have 80 gb hard disk with win 98se in my c drive of 20gb and it is only 2.40 gb used. I am upgrading to intel dual core with 1 gb ram & will work with win xp or vista. i intend to not download any thing other than windows on c drive so i don't want to keep much space for c drive. pl also guide is there some program which automatically downloaded to c drive & secondly is it necessary to keep antivirus on the same drive where window is loaded.

I leave my computer on overnight never had a problem before. This morning I moved the mouse to make the screen saver go away and my color is very dark and I cant see unless I put the computer towards the sun. I have turned it off two times but still is doing this. What to do?

I have a hp photosmart 2575 all-in-one printer..im having a problem with the right hand ink cartridge i keep getting the (remove and check cartridge on right) message coming up on the printer screen.its a new black ink cartridge so it maybe faulty as i have never had this problem in the past...what do you guys think any ideas what maybe wrong????

my cpu is a athlon xp 2500+. it should read at 1.83 and when i go to windows and look under system. it dosent even say what cpu it is and says its running at 1.01 what is going on? alos the heatsink is a foxcon if that matters. and the motherboard is a kt400 thanks for any help.

I dont want aser or asus or fujitsu. Which is better, A sony, toshiba, hp, dell or a compaq. it should have loads of harddrive memory from 120gb. I dont play games on mine. It would be nice for it to have a bluetooth with intgrated camera.It should be VERY FAST and not HEAVY. I know im asking for too much but i just need a laptop and a very good one for that matter which should be cheap. Not more than 600 pounds...HELPPPPPPPPPP.

I plug the speakers to my computer audio but no sound coming out. I went into the control pannel to see what was going on and found out that the audio sign has an exclamation mark on it. The audio control pannel is blank.

My IT class told me that if you move a computer while it's on, you could damage the hard drive. Does the same concept apply to laptops?
