when i print from microsoft word or a few other work programs, it prints like the ink is halfway going out. if i do a test page, it prints like a brand new cartridge is installed. this is on a lexmark printer

Each program which lets you print has a "Default" setting for the quality of printing it will do. You should be able to go into each program's Print menu or window and select the level you wish it to use on a regular basis (i.e., so that you don't have to do this every time you print).

I'm not sure what you mean by "halfway going out". If you mean the ink starts to skip, it may indeed be worse than "halfway going out" -- it may be just about all the way out.

Printing a test page doesn't always draw out enough ink for this to show, though.

Good luck. You may have already bought a new cartridge by the time you read this (if ever).

it depends because all programs are different and some are hard to print
