Pick the seagate

I wouldn't even touch the maxtor with a 10 foot pole

They are the SAME, Maxtor has had some problems in the past. Seagate is a good brand. Buy what ever you have money for.

Seagate and Maxtor are both good names, and i've had problems from both of them - it depends on the run at the factory. Lately I've been having better luck with Maxtor so I would probably go with it, all else being equal.

I have had nothing but problems with many Maxtor drives. Go with the Seagate, more reliable and less hassle.
