she says the monitor screen Is green when her daughter turns the pc on but when she jiggles the cable around the screen goes back to normal I said It might be the monitor cable
as the cable Is replaceable she will go and buy a new one
any help Is appreciated thanks

It likely is the cable but it could also be the connection at the PC or monitor side. Cables are cheap or she could borrow one from a mate just to check it out.

It does sound like the cable, although I have seen problems where the connector has been loose in the monitor and moving the cable flexed the connector enough to make or break the connection.

Before she pays for a new cable she may want to check that it is fully inserted and screwed down at both ends.

Yeah it sounds like a cable problem, I've seen this happen before.

If the problem occurs even with a new cable, however, either the monitor or video card may need to be fixed; in that case you should consult a pro to get a better assessment of what needs to be fixed.

That is what it probably is but there is a possibility it may be the actual port on the computer. If that is the case she may need a new video card. Most likely it is the cable.
