During the install I get a blue screen error message, saying check hard drives or newly install hardware. I checked everything. I get the error message right after all the basic drivers are installed (Before disclaimer screen) I have changed out the RAM, power supply, ATA serial cables and I have even installed an IDE HD instead of the Serial HD. I still get the error message.

Equipment info: Intel DG33TL motherboard with a 2.4GHz Quad-Core. 160 Sata HD from Western Digital.

The problem is with Intel's IDE interface (which for some reason is not standard on this board).
Actually, you're probably getting the blue screen as windows setup tries to move to the first "window-based" stage of the installation, and the setup program losses connection to the CDROM.

you'll need F6 drivers, but this board has no floppy disk, so you can't insert the floppy after pressing F6..

this is what you need to do:
1. get yourself "nlite" which is a free software for modifying WinXP installation
2. go to Intel's web site and get the RAID and IDE (PATA) F6 drivers.
3. integrate these drivers to your windows installation CD using "nlite"

now your installation will work fine.

Windows xp wll not recognize your cpu , a seral ata 300, a hard drive above the 128 gig limit or more than 2 gigs of ram with out the sp2 exe. Xp may also need your serial ata controllers & sata raid controller installed When prompted for additional drivers You'll have to install them through your 31/2 drive using the"S" key. Remove all but the minimum amount of ram you have, use a 100 gig ata100 hdd or less and then try it .

in case you wipe the hard force. Why on earth might you place XP sixty 4-bit in case you have vista? i do no longer understand downgrading to XP era yet i will comprehend that in step with probability you got pissed off and needed xp 32 bit back particularly of vista 32 bit. in spite of the undeniable fact that to flow to xp sixty 4-bit that's not at all consumer friendly basically boggles my thoughts. You greater perfect do some interpreting approximately xp sixty 4-bit before you break your pc.

I had the same thing when I reinstalled xp on an old computer last week. It gave me an error half way during the install.

I cleaned the disk and tried again, it installed good the second time.

With such a brand new set up, it would most likely be a problem with the installation CD. If not scratched, cleaning it usually solves the problem.

9 out of 10 times, it's something to do with the CD being read. Either the CD is bad, the CD-ROM drive is bad, or the IDE cable connected to the CD-ROM drive is bad.

In my experience, it's usually the CD-ROM drive. Is your drive older? Is it an off brand, cheap newer one?
