Okay, so first off, I have an Acer Aspire, Model: MT500A. I have been trying to figure out (from work, where I have no access to the PC) what kind of motherboard this baby has, and I have had no luck, even calling ACER, they were unable to assist me. My question is, does anyone have this computer and or KNOW what motherboard it comes with, OR... does anyone know how easy it is to figure out what motherboard a computer is equipped with... the extent of my computer hardware knowlege consists of replacing video cards and memory by myself, everything else escapes me a bit, but how easy would it be to locate the motherboard inside the tower?

Okay, when you get home , unplug your key board and boot. The screen (usually in the bottom left corner) will give you your bios string .Write it down ! Shut down , plug in key board, open your browser/ seach for "motherboards.com / go to there web site / at the tabs section you will click tools/ mother board id/ on the page you will see three options/pick # 2 and type in the bios string and click go. It will return the make and model of your mother board. Then you can search the mfgrs site for all the specs you want. Its the best way if you cant identify the mother board from visual and when the pc mfgr is no help. Dell is the same way

The motherboard is the green flat circuit panel that your ram snapped into, and your video card slot sits on.

You can go to www.motherboards.org then select:

mobo tools > mobo id tools

download one of the programs, these will tell you you motherboard id and the bios id. This is a unique string that is specific to each motherboard.

Hi. I would download "Everest" and run it. That will tell you everything. http://www.lavalys.com/ or the "Home Edition" http://majorgeeks.com/download4181.html which is free for personal use.
