I plan to edit videos and play the occasional game.

I'm going to need to purchase a new computer soon & need a little help. What PC will give me the most for my $$? And I currently have a 17in flat widescreen monitor so I prefer same or better... (if possible) Is this a realistic budget for a quality computer? I'd appreciate some recommendations, especially if you've purchased a computer recently.

I got a hand me down pc and I want to upgade the RAM to 1GB. The original specs are...
K7S5A motherboard
AMD Athlon processor 1.16Ghz
NVIDIA GeForce2 mx100/200
Ms windows xp sp2
pc2100 256Mb RAM DDR/CL 2.5

There are two DDR slots and two SDR slots on this motherboard. I understand that you cannot mix DDR and SDR.
I got two pc3200 DDR 400mhz SD Ram 512Mb cards and inserted them in DDR slots one and two.
It's only reading the 512 in the DDR2 slot and so although there's a gig in there, it's only giving me 512.
Why is it not reading/recognising the other one...?
I've checked out the ram in the slots and both 512s are reading, indivually, when placed in the 2nd slot.
No sign of life from the 1st slot...(no boot when there's only a ram in the 1st slot and the 2nd slot is empty)

Is that repairable...?
Or realistically am I looking at getting a new motherboard...?
Any recommendations...

Hey all.... I just got a Dell AllinOne printer and the ink cartridges are SPENDY but I could get the bottles full of ink and refill my own cartridges for CHEAP. Does anyone here know how reliable or good this method is???????????

i have windows vista(dell inspiron 5315),,the printer is a dell all in one--A940-----ive uninstalled and reinstalled the driver and its not a hard drive prob because it wouldnt work the first day i got my computer----the ink cartriges are fresh and alligned and all that------------but it jsut wont work

i am probably talking the basic spec computers but why are laptops coming down in price?

looking in Asda they have a brand new Acer laptop £275
with windows Vista, wireless enabled good sized hardrive etc etc.

My theory is that there a lot of products on the market now that will access the internet ie :- pda's, mobile phones etc etc and computers are now competing against these items if people only want to access the internet and nothing else.

I don't know what happened or even when or why it was deleted. All I know is it sadi the lst date it was modified was July 25, 2007. I guess that was the last date I used it or something. I can't even restore back to that date to see what happened, so what can I do? I tried right clicking on my computer and looking under the system restore tab but that box was not clicked and I only have one hard drive thats being monitored and thats my C: drive. So. can someone help me? I don't want to lose all the informtation and songs I have onhere cuz they are very valuable to me so please if you know another way besides that, that would be very hepful.

Ok it is a Dell Inspiron 6000. Moble Pentium M Processor @ 1.5GH, 768MB of DDR 2 ram, windows xp pro SP2.

The laptop will not power on from the battery at all, even if battery is fully charged. Pluged in from a new A/C wall plug, it will power on, and flash the LED's, but nothing on the screen, and in about 1.5 seconds or less, powers off itself every time. I did spill soda on it last night, but took it apart and cleaned it verry well, but still no boot. No POST or windows xp splash screen, nothing. Any ideas?

I am ditching my HP motherboard and Processor. I picked up a AMD Athlon 64 x2 2.8Ghz dual core CPU and now I need to find a motherboard. I am looking to spend $100-150. I have 3GBs RAM 2x1Ggb + 2x512mb and a radeon x1900GT. Running 3 HDDs, 1 SATA 2 ATA, and 2 DVD Burners both ATA. I don't need two IDE ports, i will probably ditch the burners and get a SATA one. Any suggestions on a good motherboard for those specs?
