The pentium 4 would out perform the celeron. Celerons are Intels entry level cpu for people who don't need a lot of computing power. Its also their cheapest and highest in sales. As far as the Athlon XP, it all depends on which model number it is. There's a lot of debate between Intel and AMD and not the right time for a flame war. Also remember canirunit is not 100% perfect. Its meant as a rough estimate.... What I would do, is just post your specs and either ask if a certain game would play, or ask what " games " can play on it... You said celeron, notebook, so Im thinking 1GB of RAM and an integrated video card, most celerons don't come with a dedicated. ( integrated means the video card shares your system ram. ) So 1GB of ram and a 128MB shared video would actually give you. 896MB of RAM since 128 is being given to the video card.. But they'll still list it as 1GB of RAM. Its a marketing scheme. Make the numbers look bigger. You're just really limited to what you can play on it. * hahaha AMD great for gaphics... haha... sorry no. Graphics come from your video card not the cpu. But you would want a good video card paired up with a decent cpu. AMD makes a great cpu as well. Just right now the Intel C2D and the Quad cores own the market...

In the beginning there was an 8086 cpu, then there was an 80286 cpu, then an 80386 cpu, then a 80486 cpu, then instead of 80586 Intel said "name" so they called it the Pentium instead! A Celeron is a model of Pentium chip that has a small L2 cache. The L2 cache is like theindex of a book, the smalelr it is the harder it is to find stuff on your computer when you want it. Now following that logic why not just ahve a 10 meg L2 cache? The reason is that the index fills up the whole book and there is no room left for content. A balance is what is needed and currently the max is a 4 meg L2 cache but only for VERY fast cpus.

Intel Pentium is a more powerful computer chip but it is more costly to manufacture. To lower the cost of a Pentium chip, manufactures all over the world begin to make the celeron processor. Pentium chip is more powerful in handling large amount of data, for people running large computer programming. However, if you only use the computer for word, game, and video, then celeron processor is suitable, and it is much cheaper.

Pentium is better. Celeron's are 'cut down' versions of the Pentium.

Pentium is better.
Celeron is their bottom end CPU and does not do more than one thing at a time very well.
If you need to do a lot of multi-tasking, I wouldn't advise buying a Celeron.
