Ok since u don't go for home build. AMD dual core isn't the fastest anymore intel is ( but I am a amd fan guy myself so good cpu)
Windows vista will slow down everything (games opengl etc..)and eat allot ram allot.
You wont see a benifit of dual channel memory its marketing hype and a big waste of money 1 stick of mem works fine dp you really need 2 gig??? is overkill u can allways place in stick over the years when for example games get heavier. I would go for a SATA II faster but smaller HD but thats just me (don't go for raptors of WesternD at 10 000 rpm its to fast speed they break, even though sata 2 is faster now) the cheap graphics card is fine unless u really need 16X AA and useless things like that YOU wont see it anyway on a modern monitor at high resolution! With all the money I told you to save on get a faster cpu (unless u know how to overclock)

not bad, but does it come w/ a monitor? if it does then yea its sort of good, but on the memory your gonna need to go to 3 or 4gb for Vista premium, and is the Vista a upgrade from XP? best if it is not though its still a good system, and that graphics may cost a bit to upgrade but you'll need it for vista too,
I wouldnt buy it myself, and im running vista, so i kind of know.
.
I dont know where your getting it from but if i were you I would go to Dell Outlet at Dell, com and compare with those they have, i have 5 dells and 2 are outlets models and they cost 1/2 the price of the new ones and have no bugs like my new ones, as all the bugs were worked out.
so i would take my time and search there.
Also with Dell best to get a XPS if you can afford it, better service and better qualtiy
good luck!

Check the Dell web site. It looks like you can get that configuration for less (unless your price includes monitor or software).

I have a Dimension C521 that I bought in March. Dell recently retired the "Dimension" name, I think Inspiron 531s is the current version of what I bought. It has no trouble doing what I ask of it, though I haven't pushed the limits.

Megabraingeek: They didn't build from the ground up. Vista is Windows NT 6.0. (XP is NT 5.1.)

It's good, except for the "Windows Vista Home Premium" part. Try to find it with anything other than Vista- XP, Ubuntu, or even buy a Mac instead. Vista is a horrible operating system for video editing (even worse than a Mac at it, if that's even possible) and is not compatible with most games. Those are the problems with operating systems designed by idiots building from the ground up.

Two things to look into:

Is that hard drive really big enough for video editing?

You will probably need to upgrade your PSU as well as you Graphics card. I doubt the one that comes in this will be able to handle the 8800. Also make sure the cooling system can do so.

Great price though. I would go for it and do whatever upgrades are necessary.

On a Mac, shift/administration/3 takes a photograph of the reveal. in case you press shift/administration/4, you are able to click and drag over the section you prefer; the photograph is taken once you launch the mouse button.

Excellent for gaming.

borderline for Video Editing:
YOU NEED MORE MEMORY if you are doing any video editing! 4GB RAM min, 8GB recommended.
