Ok it is a Dell Inspiron 6000. Moble Pentium M Processor @ 1.5GH, 768MB of DDR 2 ram, windows xp pro SP2.

The laptop will not power on from the battery at all, even if battery is fully charged. Pluged in from a new A/C wall plug, it will power on, and flash the LED's, but nothing on the screen, and in about 1.5 seconds or less, powers off itself every time. I did spill soda on it last night, but took it apart and cleaned it verry well, but still no boot. No POST or windows xp splash screen, nothing. Any ideas?

Ok, lets make this clear, with the battery out, and it pluged into the wall, it will power on for 1.5 seconds, so its not the battery.

The soda is the culprit. It has caused a short somewhere enough for the bios to sense it and shut down to protect the system. Sugary stuff is the worst thing for electronics.
Since you know how to take it apart, do so. I would get the main board out if you can so you can clean both sides.Go to Rat Shack and buy a can of Contact Cleaner Spray and spray the heck out of the area where it was spilled into. Let it all evaporate for a day or so and try again. Good Luck.

One of 2 things.
It very well may be a bad battery. If this is the case, then removing the Battery from the laptop, and running it from the AC power only, should confirm.
If with the battery removed it still gives the same results, then the spilled soda may very well have damaged the system.

You may need to replace the battery, or get it looked at. When you plug your computer into the wall, it is getting direct power, so there is really almost no need for the battery.

sounds like the battery is dead. laptop batterys only have a good life for upto about 1 year. after they they can fail at any time.

My guess is something shorted before you got it cleaned. My wife did the same thing to her laptop (okay, it was coffee), and it was toast. I pretty much cannibalized it for working parts and got her a new one..... sorry.

Soda and computers do not mix. Start shopping!
