I can't even restore back to that date to see what happened, so what can I do? I tried right clicking on my computer and looking under the system restore tab but that box was not clicked and I only have one hard drive thats being monitored and thats my C: drive. So. can someone help me? I don't want to lose all the informtation and songs I have onhere cuz they are very valuable to me so please if you know another way besides that, that would be very hepful.

Why haven't you burned to cd, all of your music? Always back it up in that fashion. Otherwise, when the computer goes down and it will, You will lose all on your hdd. As for system restore, I don't see how you can delete it, its one of those programs windows don't allow to be deleted. Like Outlook express, I wanted to delete that but every time I did windows copied it and put it back. Kinda tees you off!

click the start button, click accessories, click system tools, click system restore, click create restore point. This should make it possible to restore you PC to the way it is today. as far as creating a new partition, I am still trying to figure that out
If, when you bought your pc, you created a pc tools disk, that disk will help you create a new partition.
The best thing to do to safe guard your music and files is to back-up your computer. This (on my system) means you have to have an external device to back-up your information into,i.e. a tape back-up or something like that. It may be able to be done with an external hard drive, but I'm not sure about that.
I hope this helps you out,

If you're using XP, press Windows Key + R and type in "services.msc" without the quotes. Then scroll down to "System Restore Service," right-click it, hit properties, switch it to automatic and turn it on.
