A VGA cable is a display cable. There are VGA ports on monitors and some TV's. So on a computer, a VGA cable would be used between the actual computer and the monitor to provide the picture.

VGA is an old acronym for Video Graphics Adapter. It is the cable that goes between the video card of you PC and the monitor. In some cases, the video card is built into the motherboard, in other cases it is a separate plug in module. Today they use DVI cables. DVI is Digital Video Interface. You must have a DVI capable video card. Some monitors have BOTH VGA and DVI inputs.
