Hardware - June 2007

I want to be able to play Command and Conquer 3 and Sims 2.
I don't have a graphics card and I need one.
Just in case there might be something else I may need to play the games, my comp. specs are:
Intel Celeron D Processor
768 MB DDR RAM
Not sure about power

I recently bought a NEC VERSA2780 MT laptop computer to mess around with. When I turned it on it has an error message saying Invalid system disk Replace Disk, and then press any key. I did not get any disks with this computer. Does any one know how I can get passed this error message without a disk?

Is it OK to leave it plugged in all the time?
I wondered whether it would over-charge the battery,or something?
When I've finished, I just "shut down" using START and then leave it.

I did only play internet games like Wow and LOTRO. It would lock up for a few seconds and then move and lock up, etc. I tried on Fable and it seems to be doing the same thing. I've taken it to computer store. They wiped the drive clean, put in a nethercard?, checked that it wasn't the router. But they didn't seem to think it was graphics card.

Hi guys, i bought a new motherboard "Abit K8n" and i got a strange problem right now. I am not sure is it about my mother but...
the problem is like this, I am using SATA2 HD and now when i try to plug both of them to the mother board, the monitor cant recevie any signal. Or i say it is not booting up. Then i try to only plug either one of the HD at a time, the computer can boot up. Then i try only plug one of the HD into the motherboard and one of the HD ONLY connect with the power supply, then the computer doesnt boot up!! i have try both of the power supply cable, they work fine. I am using a 485W power supply.
So...can anyone tell me what is going on?

so i just installed an geforce 7600 gt. the video game play is awesom even when played at the highest quality graphics. but my screen seems like has changed resolution. everything seems larger (websites don't fit in the screen, icons seem huge on desktop even when set to 'medium' size) anybody knows how i can fix this?

I am planning on getting a new video card for my pc, and I motherboard only supports PCI.

Here's what my PC already has:
Windows XP Home Edition
2.7 Ghz Celeron processor
512 MB RAM
25 GB of HD space left (out of 60 GB)
64 MB Intel Extreme 3D Graphics card (integrated, it sucks)

Which video caerd would you suggest? I'm looking for a 256 MB PCI card. I already know that my computer's CPU and RAM aren't the best, but I'm not planning on playing anything like Crysis or Lost Planet. I just want my current games to run much faster, like Battlefield and Halo, and I want to get Call of Duty 2 to actually work.

Well I have been having some problems with my desk top computer. It stopped turning on. Power cables are fine. Before it stopped turning on it would turn on, but monitor would not come on. Now it has stopped turning on completely. Does anyone think the mother board is fried? Battery dead? Etc.. Need some help and ideas. Thank you. I will update question when answered.

I have a Compaq Presario SR1020NX that I want have it run 2 monitors on.

I bought a AGP RADEON 9200 TS64MVDR92 64 MB video card assuming I could just plug it into the appropriate place.

The expansion port slots on my computer don't match with the card. The only slots are built for a shorter card and the input slot are a little smaller as well.

So what do I have to do to run 2 monitors properly?

I've been researching but I need some expert advice.
I went on this website called myproductadvisor.com and based on my profile I should get either an apple macbook(13in) , a Dell Inspiron 6400, or a Dell Latitude D630. I'm not a savy techy, but I am a psychology + french major pre-law, and I need some help in choosing the best laptop for college.

I bought a second dell xps computer for another room, so my husband I can each have our own. The belkin wireless adapter is supposed to work up to 400 feet away. This one is only 10 ft. away. I called tech. support and they were no help at all. Has anyone else out there had trouble or luck with wireless adapters and if so, what did they do? are some better than others? and isn't that the point of wireless, so you can be in another room with your computer. I am very frustrated with this.
