I've been researching but I need some expert advice.
I went on this website called myproductadvisor.com and based on my profile I should get either an apple macbook(13in) , a Dell Inspiron 6400, or a Dell Latitude D630. I'm not a savy techy, but I am a psychology + french major pre-law, and I need some help in choosing the best laptop for college.
I'll be a freshman at UIC(U of IL @ Chicago); I want something under $1200. Anyone have some ideas? I want the best laptop but definetly not an HP or a Compaq, or any other bad company. Thanks in advance to all of you who will answer.

HP actually makes great computers. Anyways, I would say the only reason to get a Mac would be if you are doing graphic or video intense work a lot. Otherwise, PCs are much better because they are compatible with more college software and most people know how to use them. Depending on what you need, you should look at the amount of memory and processor speed, as well as the hard drive space.

Hp isn't a bad company, I'm not sure what your experiences with them may have been but they're good...

but I would recomend a 14"- 15.4" Dell, Sony, or HP with 1-2gb or ram, a dual core processor, a 120gb+ harddrive, and windows vista home premium. Don't forget to buy Microsoft Office, you'll need it.
