My spec:
Microsoft Windows XP SP1
Intel pent. III
998MHz
1.00GB of ram

I've noticed that my keyboard and mouse would freeze more often when I play games or watch a movie. I've updated my video card, radeon 8500 series, but the problem would still occure. This is annoying me. Any suggestion or help on how to fix this?

i have two older computers in my house, and I am by no means computer savvy. I was wondering if I can take the ram from one and put it into the other, where I can then run using both rams at once with the one computer. I hope that makes sense. Is there a way to see if my computer is compatible and able to run using both rams at once? Thanks a lot, I hope that makes sense.

You know, like:
*The kind w/ a wire.
*The kind that uses a laser not a wire.
(I'm sure there are more types but those are the only ones that I know about. Your answer does not have to be one of these it can be some other kind of mouse for a regular computer not a laptop, oh, not a flat screen either).

What are the pro's (good things about it) & con's (bad things) about that mouse?

I have limited my choices for which computer I should get. Now only two remain, and I need an answer. Please do not refer me to another computer, my mind is set on THESE TWO.
Emachines comp- http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8297023&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat103700050067&id=1173577698068

Please consider everything about the computer before telling me which one is the better deal. I will be using the desktop to surf the web, and play lots of games. I will need a computer with a nice speed level. My current computer sucks now. (Emachines, 60 gigabyte hard drive, 256 ram). Also, I would like to know which one would last me longer? Ive had this emachines for about 4 years now, and it still works alright.

It's not a battery problem. I have Windows XP. I was listening to music on it, and my brother accidently kicked it off the desk. It turned off. I turned it back on and it was normal until it said to pick a way to start it up. The options are, Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Last Known Good Configuration, and Start Windows Normally. I've tried all of them. A blue screen comes up in about 5 seconds that says, a problem has been detected with Windows and will shut down to prevent damage to your computer, unmountable_Boot_Volume. This screen only stays up for about a second and a half, and then it just restarts, and goes through this whole process again. Please help me, I've put to much into this computer to lose it all, and nobody gets an income in my family, so I can't afford to take it to a repairshop. Please help me.

When my computer is powered on or if it is rebooted, when it gets to the system check (black screen) It halts and tells me that the chassis has been opened before last reboot. It tells me to hit any key to continue or hit F1 to enter setup. I hit any key and it boots up as normal, if I hit F1 it ask me to enter the password.

1. How can I stop the error from stopping the computer from booting? If I am not in the room the computer will sit at the plack screen until a key is pressed.

2. Pressing F1 - I entered my password (Administator password) and it locks up until I reboot. Then the cycle repeats. Can I chand the password. Why is the pass word not the admin's pass word. Please help.

These are just small, but they are annoying.

Thanks

I was told by people at Dell that I need to reinstall windows xp home edition and buy a new hard drive. I have some important files and some music/pictures that I'd like to save. I'd call someone to do it but it'll cost $250, at least. Is there any way I can do this myself? I'm pretty computer literate when it actually works but have no clue what to do at this point. Anyways, can anyone help???

I want to buy a laptop this August (during back-to-school sales) and I'm not sure if you get better deals from buy through Dell directly or going to Best Buy type stores.

On on hand Dell.com cuts out the middle man, so I'd think it could pass the savings on to the customer, but at the same time the sheer buying force of BB might cause Dell to cut them some deals.

Also if I buy from BB it might come in hand in case I have to bring it in for repairs/defects vs mailing it back to Dell.

Anybody have an opinion about this?

I have a Toshiba laptop. It has crashed on me twice, and I'm beginning to think it's the computer and not the possibility of a Virus. I have Virus protection with Norton AntiVirus 2007. Can you recommend any brand of Laptop better? I use it as a home computer, have wireless internet, and on occasion lug it around with me when I'm out. I want something that isn't susceptible to crashing every year. Thanks. =)

I own a XFX 680sli motherboard and I am interested in buying nVidia graphic cards on eBay because it's cheaper. I am a 3D animator and need power and speed with the best resolution possible. However, many of the cards for the Quadro FX series cards listed on eBay are so called "Dell" dedicated. Will this post a problem if I buy it and try using it on an nVidia XFX? Dell doesn't produce the card nVidia does. What I find suspicious is that the many sellers of this card do not offer refunds of any kind. There are a few who do however. Any suggestions would be appreciated as well as purchasing advice or component suggestions.

I have vista and i wonder if it is worth buyin a Direct X 10 card or buy a dirext X 9 Graphics card. That being said Direct X 9 was released in 2003 i think... and I have heard that investing into old technology is not worth it, no matter the price, since it will become obsolete quickly.eg buyin a AGP motherboard...
