Erasing a memory stick with a magnetic would probably clear the data. It would also wreck the memory and make it useless. So I would not advise doing that.
If you are actually talking the computer memory (which don't think you are), then just turning the computer off and back on completely clears it.
I suspect you are referring to the computer's hard drive. Running a magnetic over the hard drive would make the computer unbootable. If the hard drive is too full, you need to either move or delete some of your data files (music, pictures, vids, etc) or uninstall any programs you do not need.
But trying to clear "memory" using a magnet is only going to turn your computer into a boat anchor.

no although you can do this with hard drive in your computer I'm not sure if you mean a hard drive or a memory stick a memory stick being what you plug into it
with a memory stick no this is not possable, because they use flash technology which means they use chips rather than a magnetic hard disk
how ever with a hard drive this is possable as you will find that they store data by using magnetic technology so if you have a strong neodymium magnet you could destroy the data, how ever you could we destroy your hard drive to as it may bend the read head, or mutate the magnetic spores on the disk which would cause it to never work again, only do this if your selling a computer on and it has personal details on.
kind regards.

If you want to clear your memory, shut down your computer and pull the memory stick for several minutes. It does not have a built in battery so if will not hold the info for long. Things you need to check could be your config file. Go to "Start" then "Run" and type in msconfig. There will be a "Startup" tab. It will list all of the programs that start automatically when your PC starts. Stuff that can save your memory are programs that aren't in use all the time. AIM, MScommunicator, Winamp, Quicktime are all examples of memory eaters that don't have to run all the time. Note: if you don't know what it is, leave it alone. There are several utility programs that can help too. One that I have used is TuneUp Utilities. It can free up memory in a matter of minutes.

No you cannot. Memory sticks use a different technology then conventional hard drives and don't use magnets to record data.
