It's not a battery problem. I have Windows XP. I was listening to music on it, and my brother accidently kicked it off the desk. It turned off. I turned it back on and it was normal until it said to pick a way to start it up. The options are, Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Last Known Good Configuration, and Start Windows Normally. I've tried all of them. A blue screen comes up in about 5 seconds that says, a problem has been detected with Windows and will shut down to prevent damage to your computer, unmountable_Boot_Volume. This screen only stays up for about a second and a half, and then it just restarts, and goes through this whole process again. Please help me, I've put to much into this computer to lose it all, and nobody gets an income in my family, so I can't afford to take it to a repairshop. Please help me.

Without a Windows XP CD there's nothing you can do. Your Operating System is jiggered up and your only chance is to reinstall it.

You should have been given the original CD when you bought the laptop. If not, go back to the thieves who sold you the laptop and tell them to fix it. And don't leave the shop till you have the CD you paid for in your possession. When you buy a laptop you also buy the software/licence that makes it run so the CD is yours by any interpetation of the law.

when it was knocked off the desk your hard drive damaged itself, you may be able to resolve the problem by reinstalling windows, as far as your data, unless you have another computer you can use to recover data from you might as well consider it all lost. But a shock like being dropped probably scratched the hard drive platters and the drive will have to be replaced. However I would give reinstalling windows a shot before you replace the drive, be sure to do a full format when you reinstall.

hope this helps :)

you must do destructive recovery with disk
or

system restore
first click on my computer
choose properties
then on system restore
make sure system restore is checked
then shut down
then
1- click start at bottom of screen
2 - then click choose all programs
3 - then click pc help tools or could be in accessory's
4 - then click on system restore
5 - then click on restore to an earlier date or factory settings
6 - choose a date when it was working - or factory settings
7 - let it run it may take a while - follow directions - if any
8 - restart THEN CHECK STATUS
choose destructive recovery as last resort you will have to look hard to find this option
i don"t know your computers options etc
you may be able to use f 11 command as you are restating computer
BUT that's what it took to restore mine to get settings i wanted etc
BACK UP IMPORTANT THINGS TO CD NO MATTER WHAT OPTION(S) YOU CHOOSE

after restore you need to make sure you have all windows updates

AUTOMATIC UPDATES FIREWALL ETC

go to start (in the blue bar)
control panel
security center
set up options
to do a manual check go here

some possible reasons for this problem are
it may be infected with virus
or
it`s booting file is deleted itself due to sudden & uncertain restart
