i recently bought 1 gig of ram and when i just installed it by itself, my monitor fails to turn on. I checked my monitor and it is not my monitor nor is it my video card. Yet when i switch back to my old ram, everything works. I dont get it.

I am thinking that if I can get a 7300 GT/GS TurboCache, and then disable TurboChache and overclock it. Also I am wondering. The pos i have in here now, the 6150 LE is running at 450/475 mhz. Why so high? like the 7300's are at the same clock speed. I am getting this card because I only have a 300 watt PSU, live in canada so the cards cost $75-$90 bucks and thats all i have right now.

This computer will need to run photoshop, illustrator and and hand full of other software simultaneously. My question is whether it would be better to go with a workstation, possibly dual processors, or a gaming type computer. The current computer is a high end desktop that is just not cutting it.

When I turned on my computer one day (A dell windows xp laptop) it took a long time for a little bit of the loading bar displayed on the opening Dell page to load, and then it said "cannot read the harddrive" or something like that. Now I can't even get on, and it keeps making this weird clicking noise (it did this every time I turned it on but only once). Is there any way I can fix it?

My laptop has been taking a VERY long time to load and start up to the desktop, and then it takes very lonf to open applications like Word. However, it seems to speed up coniderably after an hour. Should I do a disk defrag and how long will it take? And what about a disk cleanup? Any other suggestions? My hard disk is about 80 HDD/512 MB DDR2.

I have my eyes on this laptop (HP DV6000 series). I need one because the desktop I have is SLOW, slow as hell with XP and OLD.

the problem comes with all the rumors I have heard, I'm afraid
that most hardwares & softwares don't work with it. and this laptop that I'm planning on buying will be for entertainment only (games: sims 2 etc. , digital cameras, music, movies) and some work here & there.

all of the laptops are now coming with vista and I'm not sure if its a good idea getting one. But for now what do you think of this:

I want it to run smooth, when I say smooth I mean Flawlessly cause I sure learned a lesson from the desktop I have now. I'm open for suggestions too.

I notice in many video media playing programs I can change it so either the CPU does all the work or I can make the GPU do the work if I turn on Hardware Acceleration.

I almost never play games and watch videos at the same time so I think if I use Hardware Acceleration it may take a tad bit of stress off the CPU and put it the GPU.

I have a AMD 4800+ Dual core CPU and an EAX1950pro video card.

What do you think I should do? And what is normally better.

Is the NVIDIA GeForce 6100 graphics card at least an okay card to play games on? Will it handle black and white 2? I don't want to spend a bunch of money on a new card, but I was wondering if the card mentioned above that is coming with my comp--will I have to be worried if it could play like up to 2006 and maybe some 2007 games?

I have a desktop that has XP Pro and 512mb of system memory. When I went to "My Computer" and right clicked to check memory it stated 448MB. I just installed 2 1GB sticks and the system still states 448MB of memory. Confused on what to try now. Thanks.

hi, Trying to bye a new Workstation for 3d Rendering, Want something with power and performance, and was looking into a PC with 8GB of RAM. Recently, a friend told me that Windows Vista will only use 4gb of maximum Ram and that it would be a waste to have the extra 4gb of ram. Is that true ??
