Is the NVIDIA GeForce 6100 graphics card at least an okay card to play games on? Will it handle black and white 2? I don't want to spend a bunch of money on a new card, but I was wondering if the card mentioned above that is coming with my comp--will I have to be worried if it could play like up to 2006 and maybe some 2007 games?

The 6100 is an intergrated graphics solution. Meaning it steals some memory from your computer for graphics. It is good enough for playing in 640x320 resolution in modern games, but terrible with any extra eyecandy or higher resolutions. You should fork over an extra $130 for an ATI X1600 if you are an occasional gamer, or 200 for a 7950 if you are serious about gaming. Otherwise the 6100 is merely adequate.

Nvidia 6100 is just integrated graphics that share with system RAM. It has only 2 pixel pipelines. It is an excellent solution for business desktops.

It is good for 2D and Videos but slow for 3D graphics (games). Any entry level or budget card w/ 4 pixel pipelines will outperform it. Adding a discrete graphics card also improves overall PC performance because it frees up the RAM previously allocated to the 6100 integrated graphics.

NO....More that likly that is an integrated graphics card. You will need something better in ordfer to run newer games. The 6100 will not run the majority of the new games due to its DX limitations. If you have PCI-E you can get an Gforce 8600 for about 100 bucks that will run everything.

hmmmm
the nvidia 6000 series probably won't be around much longer.
you should at least get a 7000 series card, which are very good and will last a while longer.
or if you want to wait a little longer, (maybe a month or so) nvidia is coming out with their 8000 series with directx 10, which is a major deal. period.

hope this helps

GeForce is a line of video cards. But, the 6100 can only be found as an integrated GPU, since it is cheap, and companies can say it has graphics that way.

This depends on the rest of your system...How much memory does it have? How fast is the CPU? How good is the motherboard? How much power does the power supply deliver?
The card you install will only be as good as the rest of the system permits it to be...any choke point in the system will effect everything else.

My invidia card is good, but some games (Far Cry) will look a little funny - like the colors are shifted or blown out. However, DVD's look 5x better than my HDTV.

no, 6100 cannot handle games of 2007, it might be able to sqeeze some early 2006, but as more time passes you wont be able to play any new games...
