When I turned on my computer one day (A dell windows xp laptop) it took a long time for a little bit of the loading bar displayed on the opening Dell page to load, and then it said "cannot read the harddrive" or something like that. Now I can't even get on, and it keeps making this weird clicking noise (it did this every time I turned it on but only once). Is there any way I can fix it?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the error message and the clicking noise indicate a defective hard disk.
It is time to call dell support, do diagnostics, if possible, to see if you can save anything on the disk, and (hopefully) get a new disk to replace the old one.
In some cases, dell support may suggest to try something that may fix the problem. But typically, you can not do much work inside a laptop.
You have backups of important files, right?

The hard drive is either wiped out loose wire, or worst sector 0 of your hard drive of your computer was deleted which is not fixable this is caused by a virus going around right now.

Sounds like your hard drive is on its last leg, if you can, get your data out fast, otherwise, get an adapter and plug it into a normal PC and extract what you can before its too late.
