What would be the best laptop to for a grapic designer to get?

I just recently purchased my first computer and since I got it I have figured out how to do most of what I needed the computer for. The one thing I absolutely cannot figure out is how to scan existing photographs in! I don't even know what to "click on to" to start the process! Since I am so technologically challenged and would get absolutely confused by complicated instructions, is there someone out there who can give me simple instructions about how to do this?!? (my printer is a Lexmark 2400 series if this makes any difference)

I have a TON, I mean TON of spyware/trojans/virus' on my computer. How do I reformat, crash, or whatever you call it, to start it brand new? I know anything I want to save I have to back-up on disks cause it will get lost, but I need to do this!
Please if you could, use very easy to understand step-by-step instructions.........

On my back-up desktop I have two bad ( apparently ) components :
1. Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 80GB ata/133 HDD - this has the wide 39 pin ( double row ) connection for my m'board

2. Omega-Tech 512MB DDR-133MHZ

If I change I might as well upgrade so I selected the following from New Egg :
1. Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 HDT725032VLAT80 (0A33405) 320GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA133 Hard Drive - Price ( USA ) 79.99 usd
2. Patriot 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory - Price ( USA ) 65.99 usd ( less 10 rebate )

Can anyone advise, are these compatible with my old parts, and any advice what I could do better with.

I have just updated to Vista Ultimate but i have no sound and i need to a graphic accelerator!
But my old ones are not working says that "the following programm is not suported by Windows"
Where do i find some drivers?
Graphic card:ASUS v476
Sound card:VIA K8T800 Chipset (don't know but i hope it helps ...)

I just upgraded my motherboard, cpu, and PSU, i am using my old hard drives, optical drives and video card.

When i power on the system i get 1 beep, then right fater that 8 fast beeps come. the system does not post and there is no display.

While typing weird things happen like the cursor jumps forwards or backwards and text highlights and the mouse right (options)click function happens and some windows function that displays a bubble with verticle arrows, I guess for verticle scrolling appears, and also the mouse scroll wheel will stop working and also I wont be able to grab anything with the mouse until after I open and close the task manager.

Intially it looks to be a input device problem since it looks to be effecting the mouse and keyboard only so far. Does anyone know what is going on and what I can do about it? Thanks.

I have a bunch of icons that I do not want next to the clock area, how do I clear them, I think its auto start for these programs, this makes my boot up slow, I think it takes up memory. I need to clear them. Please anyone.

Im using Windows 2003 Server as my workstation PC :P Anyway accoridng to Device Manager's Display Adapters I have installed 3dfx Voodoo3 PCI card, NVidia Geforce4 MX 440 AGP card, and a ATI mach64 CT PCI.

The Voodoo and Geforce4 are working just fine and Im able to use 2 monitors but now im getting greedy. I want 3 monitors and so ATI mach64 was plugged in. Unfortunately Im seeing the classic (!) yellow icon next to the listing anf the Device status reads: This device cannot start. (Code 10). Under Resources tab it just states "This deivce isnt using any resource because it has a problem".

Any ideas on how to get this 3rd PCI video card to work so that i can use 3 monitors? I've already tried several ATI mach64 drivers without luck.

I can put MOST dvds into the laptops dvd drive, but i recently bought a copy of Borat that would not work, the dvd drive would make all of these strange noises like it was jammed, and it would not read the disc. After that I put in another dvd and it worked just fine. But Borat will still not work.

I have just got my lump of s**t back also known as a computer using a p4 processor. the problem before was it didn't turn on half the time, and now i got it back to day and there is only 2mb of space left out of 186GB on the HDD before it was sent away i had already used about 20GB and that is all there. i think that it is damaged as i have looked and cant find any files (apart from a few games) more than a GB that weren't there before. so does anyone have any idea as to what has happened to it?
