Did you need to save files other than drivers?? If so, consider the program GetDataBack for FAT32 (or the NTFS equivalent).

Did you get recovery disc(s) with your computer? If so, that will install windows and all of the drivers.

As for drivers, the Gateway website has a whole heap of them for both Vista and XP. Installation instructions are also available.

Good luck.

You will need your serial number. See how to find here:

Your loss of data should not have been a surprise when you used Killdisk. Per the mfr site.

Active@ Kill Disk - Hard Drive Eraser (Free version/ $29.95 enhanced version)
http://www.killdisk.com/
Active@ KillDisk - Hard Drive Eraser is powerful and compact DOS software that allows you to destroy all data on hard and floppy drives completely, excluding any possibility of future recovery of deleted files and folders. It's a hard drive and partition eraser utility.

If you reformatted the computer, it deleted everything. (That is what formatting does). You will need to completely install Windows XP using an XP CD or a recovery disk. You should have gotten one of those with your laptop.

There are two problems with your laptop:
1) It's Windows
2) It's a Gateway.
3) I'm terrible at counting
4) It isn't a Mac.

Reformatting delete all data off of the disk. Install Windows XP and then you will see what drivers...if any that you will need for it.

properly, all of it comes all the way down to what you're specially going to apply it to do. in case you opt for a shopper friendly surfing/college laptop i could probably purchase a Mac. The Mac is a little extra costly than an hassle-free laptop, yet perchance its well worth it? in case you opt for the ability and hazard to the two do artwork and play video games i could recommend a pc.
