You can only install a Vista CD on one computer. So you would have to have two CDs (or actually two activation codes) to legally use it on two PCs.

Legally, you need a license for each PC you want to install Windows on. The Windows product activation system enforces this. You won't be able to get Windows working on two PC's at the same time without buying two licenses (for retail, this meansbuying two CD's or DVD's). For windows XP, you can use any installation CD to reinstall, but you need the Product ID number for the PC you are installing it on. This is probably true of Vista, too, but I'm not 100% certain of that.

Read the EULA for Vista. I know that a number of Microsoft products allow for the installation of the product on both a desktop and a laptop...I am not sure if Vista is the same way. If you can only install it legally on one computer then you will need to purchase another copy of it.

Most CD's that you buy say how many computers you can download on. When you buy it at the shop have a look at the case, it will say on the case. Most CD's work on 2-4 computers and you can download them as many times as you want on that same computer.. Hope This Helps. Conner
