I have just got my lump of s**t back also known as a computer using a p4 processor. the problem before was it didn't turn on half the time, and now i got it back to day and there is only 2mb of space left out of 186GB on the HDD before it was sent away i had already used about 20GB and that is all there. i think that it is damaged as i have looked and cant find any files (apart from a few games) more than a GB that weren't there before. so does anyone have any idea as to what has happened to it?

Hard drive problems can be caused by:
1. Virus - have your HD be checked from other computer for virus.
2. Improper set up - unplug and plug firmly both the power and ribbon cable.
3. Death - it must be slowly dying now, try back-upping your files now, use file recovery tools available on the web, and have a new HD ready.

Good luck.

I'm not sure about "Big" hdd. But back in the old days little hdd like 466mb, when ever a hdd got bumped or dropped onto to floor, it would make loud whirring noises. When those little hdds did that, we had to replace the hdds. Once that start making noise, it won't be long before they lock up. So If I had your hdd, I'd get it replaced. Or if its on warranty get it replaced. Hope I helped you.

Your hard drive is failing terribly. I'd just get a new one and if it's under warranty you're in luck! I hope this helps.

It sounds to me like your Hard Drive is dying.

Exchange it for a new drive, if under warranty, and kiss your personal data goodbye (if you never backed it up).

If not under warranty, buy a new one.
