You will need a driver disk for your hard drive controller especially if it is SCSI or SATA (anything other than IDE) - during the XP Setup it says press F2 to load... <> ...drivers, don't exactly remember, but I had to do that for my desktop. Check IBM's site to see if they have the "disk" you need for the controller. Hope this helps...

Your problem is when you copy the files in DOS that is the hard drive. & since that is where you are installing things from you will find that XP won't format the drive it is installing itself from. Also in windows XP when doing an install you need to have 1 hard drive & 1 other drive you boot off from only. Normally a CD is best to boot off from. If you do not do this then you will have your hard drive as something other then C. Also unless you are going to do a dual boot to windows 98 or windows 95 then I would suggest you change the file system to NTFS.

you should install the drivers of your hard drive ... so that win xp will detect it... eveytime you changed OS.. you will install the drivers after the OS installation... it comes in CD form (^_^)
