im the vp for our home little league i am interested in buying a laptop all it has to have on there is microsoft office. nothing else and i would like the laptop to be a well known name such as sony, dell and hp. my question is i want to find the right laptop for the job

Is it possible to format a hard disk too often, or to edit partitions too often? I heard somewhere that it is alot of wear and tear on your hard drive. Is that true??

I am running a PIII Intel Celeron 1.7ghz. CPU, with 1 gig ddr. 2 dvd drives, ati radeon 9550 agp with 256mg.ram on video card. when I play Sacred offline single player, the system will exit the game, and restart by itself...all temps are running normal, and with cooling fans. Just freshly installed XP SP2 Edition. seems to only do this when playing this game mostly. Please help?

I'm using an O2 M-Audio midi controller, and a Tascam US-122 audio interface, and I'm running Cubase on a laptop with a Pentium M processor and 512 mb of RAM. No matter how few programs I'm running, I always get a half-second delay whenever I press the keys on my midi controller. Please help!

I've decided I need a laptop computer, unfortunately I am technologically challenged. (I want something preferably from IBM, Compaq or Apple. I was looking at the iBook G3 500MHz 192mb 10GB CD model : M7698 on dvwearhouse.com and I was wonder after I get it could I go like to a computer store and get it upgrated with a dvd drive and stuff, would they be able to do that or is it to old. It is a terrific deal for a used computer ($229). It would be great to know before I bought it. Could you please answer the same question for the ibook clamshell they have. Can I upgrade it?

I was looking at new Acer LCD 19" WS monitors and noticed that they are very similar to NEC 19" WS monitors. i was wondering if Acer is rebadging NEC or vice versa. anyone any ideas?
also where is Acer brand from? is it Asian or is it European? thank you all in advance.

What happens when i just close my laptop and dont turn it off.? Someone told me it is bad to do....and others say its not. It gets annoying turning it on and off. Is it ok to just close it?

I was using higher resolution than a monitor can support. without distorting the pixels, monitor shows only part of desktop, and by moving my mouse I can see every corners of my desktop but not at once.
But I don't recall how I did except control->setting. I think there is some way to make it enabled.
My monitor supports 1280x800, want my desktop 1600x1200. Any idea?

This issue just happened today, It is a cdrw/dvdr combo drive. I can play dvd's with no issues, I put in a cd rom and it says there is no disc in the drive. the laptop is a Gateway i don't know model. I am runnning Windows XP. Thanks in advanced

Nvidia Geforce 6200 256mb PCI
1.5gigs of RAM
2.93 GHZ Proccesor speed
and 230 GB hard drive space (but thats pretty irrelavent :P)

So I have a really old Dell Inspiron 4150 Laptop. Due to many years of use, the text has rubbed off the keys. I was wondering if there is such thing as a kit I can buy to "replace" the text on the keys. Or, even better, would be if there is a place I can buy new keys for it?

..memory and performance on my old W98, right? Everytime I try to uninstall W Media Player it comes back, and the best I can find in Control Panel is that there's a hardware conflict.

I wanna know if there is a way to reconver data of a compact flash memory. The problem is with a flashdrive that suddenly stop working, I think was the cable (Becasuse its a flash drive of 4GB. with a compact flsh memory inside) but I connected another drive and worked. The 4gb CFlash memory didn't worked in 2 different card readers and 4 computers. what can i do? the problem is the CFlash. can I open the memory?.... or What please help!!! oh.. The computers didn;t recognize the memory. it;s like nothing plugged, just recognize the card reader.

A few weeks ago I logged onto my computer and instead of the normal background picture, the background was just black. I went into the properties and when I tried to change it back, I was unable to select any pictures or even try to open pictures to put as the background, I can only change the color. This happened before and I ran AdAware a bunch of times and I was able to change the background. I tried this approach again with no success. When I shutdown the computer though before it gets to the actual screen where it says, "Windows is shutting down" it shows the picture that I had originally for a background. I'm using Windows XP if that helps. Anyone have any suggestions?
