If your using onboard audio (in the motherboard). You should go to start, programs, accesories, system tools, system information, and find the model # of your mother board. Then go to the manufacturers website and download the driver for that chipset. If you bought a pre-built system like hp or emachines, you should go to their website and search by the system model. If your using a pci soundcard you need to get the model number of it and search the manufacturers website. Driverguide.com use to have a program (driver guide tool kit) that could be of help. It will only fix your driver problem if you pay for it, but it will diagnose the problem for free. Run the program, write down the results, then google the driver you need. Good luck.

Probably, it would appear as over active, but I would like to give you the explanation on this issue:
Audio device in general would be the hardware and Audio Device driver is the software.
Since you would like to know if it is possible to "download the Audio device" I reckon that you were referring to to the Audio drivers. You can run the Belarc software (download link for Belarc advisor: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html) in order to identify the hardware present in the computer and once the Audio hardware is recognized you can try for the drivers online by searching for the drivers in www.google.com
If you were referring to the Audio hardware then we have the following options:
1. If the computer is a Desktop computer, then you can purchase or order the Audio card online.
2. If the computer is a Notebook/Laptop computer then you would need to go fir the PCMCIA or Express Audio Card and place the same in slot provided for them.
