I scanned a document to Word and gave it a pdf. so I could write to and edit the text. When I viewed the doc in Word, and attempted to modify,edit, or write to it, a "format picture" dialog box appeared. I could not edit my doc because it was seen as a picture by Word. How can I edit and modify my doc.? I used an on-line converter (pdf to doc), but that failed as well. Thankyou

my sata2 hard drive is coming up with bad sectors, I tried a repair on it but it still comes up with bad sectors, it gets to the windows xp logo and then just restarts, the hard drive is only 3 weeks old, the one I had before this hard drive was also faulty,coming up with bad sectors and over heating, and now this new one is coming up with bad sectors, could it be software? I tried to do a reimage but it did not work

Hello everyone, I have a problem. My little sister just got an ipod nano that she asked me to hook up to a computer and put music on. I have tried hooking it up to four different USB 2.0 connections (two each on seperate computers). both computers say that it is not recognized and completely ignore it after that. So What is the problem?
I could understand one computer not working with it, but both having this problem with a brand new ipod nano?

I have been told it is easier on a computer to leave it on all the time than it is to turn them off. I have left my PC on 24/7, till recently when I was told he would wear out faster, and I should turn it off when not in use. Also I have a laptop, not very knowledable regarding laptop, other than using it. PLease tell me should I leave a laptop on when not in use, or should I turn it off when I've finished using it. I have left it on for days, plugged into outlet, but haven't since I have heard of them catching on fire. Thanks to any computer wizard who knows there stuff and can give me solid advice in the area of my question. Thanks in advance.

In order to load Sims 2, I need a newer computer, so I've found a Gateway. I know that the Sims 2 requires this:
If you have a T&L capable video card with at least 32 MB of video RAM then you need at least:
800 MHz processor or better
256 MB RAM if Windows XP, Windows ME, Windows 98 or Windows 2000
At least 3.5 GB of hard drive space
If you have a non-T&L capable video card (an Intel Extreme Graphics or a Radeon 7000/VE Series) then you need at least:
2.0 GHz processor or better
256 MB RAM if Windows XP, Windows ME, Windows 98, or Windows 2000
At least 3.5 GB of hard drive space
And here's what this Gateway I'm thinking of getting has:

evry time i log onto second life it lags even though i have a good comp. i tdosent have dual core and is about 4 yrs old. also other things for digital dishin need dual core is i tworth geting the new comp.?

I have an gateway fpd1830 Moniter. Until recently it worked fine, but for the last week or so, it turns on OK and displays the usual picture for about a second, but then goes blank. I cannot get any picture to show from then on. If I turn it off then on again, it shows a picture for about a second again before going blank.
how do i fix it?

Ok I just got this max machine off from a friend. And I have no clue or anything about max machines. I know you can send message within it but I need help in using it. Can fax mach- print like works from your computer? And how do I connect max machines into my computer so I can do stuff because I only see 2 ports behind its back =/ And its from Panasonic KX-FP80. So do I need like different cable of wire to use it because all I got was the fax machine itself. So help will be appreciated.

My old desktop computer has problems and I can’t access any data on it. I bought a new laptop computer and need to transfer the hard drive data from the old computer to the new computer, but I was hoping to find a better way than paying $150 to get it professionally done. Someone suggested that I buy a hard drive enclosure (lets you convert a hard drive into an external plug-and-play USB 2.0 device), but some reviews mention something about formatting.

1. Do hard drive enclosures require you to reformat your hard drive to use them? (If so, this option definitely won’t work for me, because the data I need will be erased)

2. If the hard drive enclosure is out, can you suggest another way to get the information off my old computer? I can’t turn on the old computer, so pulling the information off normally is out. Thanks.

I promise I will vote a best answer tonight if someone can please help me. I just got a new laptop. I have not installed any printer on it. I am about to install the cd for my printer. I have a desktop hooked up to my printer alread. I have a wireless router hooked up for internet purposes. How do I hook it up so I can print things from a diffrent room that my bedroom (where the printer is). Please if possible explain this in lamens terms. Thank you very much :)

I have an authentic Windows XP Pro cd, but there is no service packs embedded in it. The problem I am having, is that I just bought a 300GB hard drive and Windows XP won't recognize all of it (will only recognize 180GB out of the 300) without at least SP1. Well, is there a work around for this problem?

Dell inspiron 600m used to work great. never an issue. last september got new battery because of the recall. last week, the battery stopped charging, and the laptop will not turn on, even when plugged in. bought new cord, but still doesn't work. when i take out the battery and use a voltage detector, there is power getting to the battery terminals, but it's not charging. is it the battery? the computer used to work fine with battery removed as long as it was plugged in, but now it doesn't work at all. suggestions? pls help!

Hi there, I am trying to get an external monitor connected to my laptop. I have a VGA port, which seems to be defective - not showing any image, just blank screen whatever I do. I was thinking of a possibility to connect an external monitor using s-video output which works just fine when I connect a tv. Is this possible? I don't seem to find many adaptors around. My question is actually 2 questions, but since they're related I dont see the point of making 2 separate posts.

1. I have a GeForce 7900 GT right now and I'm wondering when less expensive versions of the GeForce 8 series will be released. (below $300). Perhaps a 8600 GT or something like that. Is anything scheduled by nvidia or do I just have to wait for it to appear one day?

I didn't follow the progression of the GeForce 7 line very closely, but I have noticed these cool fanless variations of some cards, such as these:
