I am able to wiggle it and prop the leading end of the cable such that I receive a connection.

It's not the cable itself.

I am looking for a way that will provide a sufficiently permanent fix.

I made a minor mistake of formating the hole 320GB of space on my hard drive during a XP installation. Now I would like to make a new partition and install linux for a dual boot. Whats a good way to go about this with out deleting any data? The only safe way I can think of would be to back up everything and start over.

I picked the option that said my computer could read 13 types of media cards, and I thought a floppy disk was included in the 13 types. I can never get through on the phone to the support center. Are floppy disks being weeded out like cassette tapes?

I am thinking of getting a desktop computer, and though I am more familiar with using a PC, my friend tells me that if she could do it all over again, she would buy a Mac. I'm needing it for basic internet and word and excel type documents.

The ULead DVD player that came with my new DVD player/burner will not play the sound from any DVDs I try to watch through it. I've used some other programs to attempt to watch DVDs, and they all play with sound AND subtitles. No matter what I try, I cannot just watch a movie, have sound, and no subtitles.
Anybody have the same problem? Anybody have a remedy?

Thanks!

for my computer class i needed to go out and buy a USB Flash Drive/Thumb Drive/Memory stick, 128 MB or 256 MB and it couldn't be a U3 type flash drive. When i went to staples I bought a USB 2.0 Flash Drive, 1GB. Will this flash drive that I bought be ok for this class? & what does it mean when it says 1GB? My only concern is that I don't know if the one i bought is a 128 MB or 256 MB flash drive. ugh, i don't know a thing about computers! someone help!

I have LukeFilewalker virus protection and everyday when it scans, it shows only 2 warnings. It says that the scan is 100% complete, but still only 2 warnings. I thought that was odd because it normally is alot higher. Anyone know how to fix this?

I'm gonna need it for college, so I don't feel like bringing bulky ones. E1405 is for travelers and is good for carrying it around and has a longer battery life. On the other hand, E1505 has a bigger memory, with 1GB and I think its graphics is also better cause it has NVIDIA. I'm a little gamer and I have to put the sims 2 in it with all the expansion packs so I'm thinking of investing on a laptop with more memory so it would last a long time. I'm really confused and your help would be much appreciated. I would also pick the best answer! ;)

Well my computer will turn on sometimes and other times it won't. When I do get it to come on it works fine but if I unplug the power supply and plug it back up it will not come on. If i open the case and unplug the power supply from the motherboard and jiggle it around alittle bit it will finally come on but i have to do this almost everytime I want to get on my computer. So I don't know it is the power supply or the motherboard. I know it is not the switch because the motherboard it self has a switch to power on and both switches will turn the computer on after I tinker with the power cord.

The lcd on a laptop has gone totally black. With a flashlight pointed to the screen I can see that WINXP starts up and is working perfectly, so i'm asuming the black screen has something to do with the ccfl or perhaps the inverter. Does anyone have an estimate on how much it would cost to fix the display problem or if this has nothing to do with the ccfl but something else?

I am currently at University looking to invest in a new notebook. I mainly use my laptop for: Writing essays in word, Internet, Occasional PowerPoint Presentation, Uploading Photos/Videos, Web chat / Instant Mesaging.

I have been looking at both windows based machines and the macbook but am still unsure which to choose.

+ what is Macs compatability like, if i'm looking to print documents off which i have done in word on a mac, will i be able to do this at university which uses windows machines?
Are most programs which you can buy compatable with a mac?

As you can probably tell i'm angling toward the mac, but i just don't have enough experience to make the decision. (£900 is ALOT of money to a student!!!)
