Last guy is right about the purpose, but the front side bus is a part, it actually contained within the processor. It basically is the processor for the most part, but its speed is different than the quoted speed of the processor.

fsb = front side bus.

Simply, it means the system that connects your CPU to the rest of the computer. The faster it goes, the faster data can get to your chip, and therefore the faster your machine goes.

There is no one part you can point to and say "that there is the fsb!" its just a general name for the overall system.
