When i power it up. Sometimes it gets recognized and I can access it in windows, sometimes it does not. Sometimes it gets recognized out of the blue as a removable drive (exp. Memory stick) Then works for a while then just vanishes off windows. I checked the warranty off Western Digital's site and it has no warranty, which is a joke because it is a 160 Gigabyte SATA hard drive that I have not even had for 2 years. I would like to try to get it to work , what are my options ?

Yeah, thats what sets apart Hard Drive makers...Their warranty support ( or lack there of) when one of their drives go bad. I usually buy Maxtor Hard Drives , just because their warranty is around 4 years.

Since its going to go in the trash anyways, is there anyway I can try to do (take it apart ? ) to save it?

Nope, never dropped it.
I just turned it on its side standing up and it started working.....I have access to it right now.. Its not clicking , running very quiet. Maybe a stablizer inside is not working right.

I get some "cycle redundancy errors" on some of the files on the Hard drive when I try to move them off.
