Whenever I play a game it runs just fine for a while, but then the sound just stops. I have a Phillips sound card that I used. After I disabled it and went back to the factory sound it seemed to work ok for a while, but then it did it again. Is there a way to fix it so that the sound doesn't 'drop' out?

it seems like it has something to do with the connection... try pulling the card out and cleaning the pci slot and the card, then put it back in.

Check to see if another device is using the same I/O addresses or IRQ number.
If it still doesn't work, try uninstalling the sound card and reinstalling it, using the Add New Hardware applet in the Control Panel.
Try replacing the sound card with one you know is good to see if it is even a sound card issue.

Probably has sometime to do with another application trying to gain access to the sound card. Check to make sure no other process wants access to your sound card.
