I have a radeon 9800 pro 128 and an Athlon64 3200 and 1gb of pc3200 ram but I still can't run even empire earth 2 at the lowest settings. I get these triangular opaque artifacts mucking up the screen and after a while they take over the whole screen. I am not sure if this is a configuration problem or if my hardware is obsolete. If it is obsolete, what upgrade would make this go away aside from the 400 dollar video card upgrade route? Processor upgrade? Memory?
Note: I did try updating the video card drivers to the latest set but still have the graphics problem.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

That is overheating, its a classic symptom. You could try putting an aftermarket cooler on the video card, that should eliminate the artifacting.

This almost sounds like your video card is overheating. You may want to clean out the dust or put another fan in the case. That card can run pretty hot.

If that does not work, look for an 800 series ATI card, or an 850. They are agp cards. They are pretty decent cards for the price. If you want, they now have the 1950 pro agp card out. They run about $250 though. That is the best video card you can get for agp. Check out newegg for cards in your price range.
