Yes. You can go to many of those "hot spots" popping up at coffee shops, book stores, etc., and get some free Internet. You can also buy a wireless router for your house to browse without wires (back yard even). You still need and ISP though. I think there will come a time where the Internet will encompass the entire world in some way or another, and become like receiving local TV stations.

You do if you want to get internet. Who would pay for internet if all you had to do was get an Integrated Wireless LAN. You still have to put your LAN on a network to get access to internet.
There are some places that give you free internet as long as you are in there establishment(Hotels, Restaurants, Cafe's, etc.) But if you want full time access you have to go through an ISP.

Your internet connection comes from a wireless router. If you can pickup wireless router in your area that is not secured with a password, you can connect and surf the net for free. Some public places like the airport, coffee shops offer wifi connections for free and your next door neighbor may have a router that is not secured. Worse case scenario, you will have to obtain a connection from an ISP and connect to it via wired network or you can purchase your own wireless router and connect it to the ISP's modem. Make sure you secure your own router with a password unless you want to share your connection with the neighborhood.

An get admission to factor is everywhere the place you will get internet, no count if or no longer it extremely is under pressure out or on the spot. A router is slightly container that makes a bubble of on the spot get admission to factor, referred to as wireless. A router is an get admission to factor. A on the spot adapter is slightly adapter, the dimensions of a pen, that plugs right into a working laptop or pc so as that it may use wireless. All laptops have no want for on the spot adapters, yet for computers, it extremely is somewhat attainable. in case you have an adapter plugged into your laptop, you do no longer could tension approximately having a huge long cord linked to it to get internet. some adapters can broadcast the alerts, even though it extremely is a rarity, and that i've got yet to purchase an adapter that asserts it may try this. although, some do certainly try this.

Hello; Like some of the others have said here, you do need an ISP... unless you can pickup a community access free wifi (they exist!), of "bum" it off your neighbors... if you feel like a bum doing that, why not go to your neighbor, and suggest splitting the cost? Or, if you do a Wifi search, and there's a padlock next to the wireless access, it means there's a user ID and PW required... you can also talk to neighbors about paying a little, to get yourself access to secure networks... I can see a home user allowing you, but a business most likely will not... Good Luck!

Yes , in your home you need a connection... you may be able to piggyback off of someone elses... but 1. thats stealing, and 2. alot of those are secure and if you dont have the password.. you cant get in. Choose the company you want... I chose the phone company.. with the DSL.. They send you your modem.. which catches the signal... and you can surf from anywhere.. wirelessly in your home.
