everything was mounted the right way and ventalation is no longer a problem, the first faulty hard drive was over heating, we put it in several different computers and confirmed that it was over heating in any computer, the new hard drive is not overheating, just coming up with bad sectors, I confirmed with the supplier of the hard drive weather or not it was the same hard drive or a repaired hard drive, it was not either, it was a totally new hard drive.

It could be the hard drive controller I had a problem with a western digital raptor drive doing that with a buggy on-board controller so it might just be the controller chip on the motherboard or your pci controller card and not the actual hard drive. It might be worth trying a different controller card and copying everything back over again.

It could be the result of software, but I highly doubt it in your case.

You mentioned a heat problem that needs to be resolved. Heat is never good for a computer. Harddrives do heat up to a point, but they should not get too hot. How you diagnosed an overheating problem I don't know? I suspect that the other hard drive was just old and that caused the errors. There are Harddrive Temerature monitoring tools on the internets.

What I recommend for you, is to go to the harddrive manufacturers website and dowload the Diagnostic Disk. You will then create a CD and boot up off of that CD. It will check the hard drive for errors. If you have any errors, I suggest you take the drive back, since it is only 3 weeks old.

Note: Manufacturers Do Recycle Hard Drives. They are called "Refurbished". Somebody returns a harddrive to a store. The hard drive is then sent back for checking, if they find nothing wrong with the unit, the manufacturer resells the same drive to somebody else. This might or might not be your problem.

have you tried to use that hard drive on the other computers.. i think you should try it first, if the problem your windows is restarting.. maybe the problem is cause by the virus, some virus do that way.. when you log on to the windows it will restart again and again...
if it really bad sectors, i think the problems is on your other parts like mother boards, power supply, etc, better to find the computer technical support to check it...

Sounds like you don't have adequate ventilation inside the case or you didn't mount the drive properly and it's shaking itself apart or something. (Believe it or not, a LOT of users skip one or two screws when mounting HD's, thinking they're redundant, when they are NOT! Vibration is the #1 cause of damage ot HD's!)

Try to get it exchanged. It's not worth saving at this point. Download something that will check the SMART status of the drive.
